An Austin teen who was shot and killed last weekend while trying to stop a car break-in will be laid to rest Saturday.

Police say 17-year-old Mark Brandon Dominguez was shot early Sunday morning outside his South Austin home. Dominguez was a junior at Akins High School and part of the Explorer program with the Manchaca Volunteer Fire Department.

Firefighters say the program helped turn the teen's life around. Brandon, as his friends called him, will be buried with full firefigher's honors Saturday.

Visitation is scheduled Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home in Austin.

The funeral will be Saturday at noon at San Jose Catholic Church.
