Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will step down from Congress
Arizona Representative Gabrielle Giffords said she will be stepping down from her position to focus on her recovery.
In a video released on YouTube, Giffords thanked her constituents for giving her time to recover, but it has come time to for her focus on her health.
“I have more work to do on my recovery, so to do what is best for Arizona, I will step down this week,” Giffords said. “I am getting better.”
Giffords promises to return to Arizona public service in the future.
The representative was shot in the head during an attack in January of 2011. Six people were killed and 13 were wounded, including Giffords, in the assault.
