Bonnie Gonzalez filed the below video report on area flooding from South Austin.Strong to severe storms rumbled slowly through Central Texas Tuesday night, producing record rain totals and causing waterways to come alive with runoff.
Emergency crews responded to a low-water rescue at a home near Del Valle. Officials say a mother and child were rescued from the home and are safe.
"I suggest that when you see the signs, please turn around, because there is a lot of people, and they'll do it right in front of us, when we put signs over there in front of Lamar Boulevard, they just went around them and kept going. All I said was just, ‘Please, we're doing it for their safety, so they won't be washed away one day.’ City of Austin spokesperson Jamie Botello said. "When you see the signs just please obey them and turn around.”
