Business is booming at Coll Materials in McLennan County. The recycling company plans to add about 40 jobs to its Waco factory in the next few weeks.
Founded in owner Brian Coll's basement, the company has since grown to three locations.
At the Waco plant, workers turn plastic materials into recyclable railroad ties. They manufacture about 300 ties every day, weighing in at about 200 pounds each.
“We run 50,000 pounds of reprocessed plastic per day,” Coll said. “Almost 200 employees and we recycle about 200 million pounds of plastic a year, diverting it from landfills."
Some of the new jobs will be in administration, engineering and manufacturing.
Coll Materials is headquartered in Zanesville, Ohio and has another factory in Allentown, PA.
