One local business owner with a touching story is reaching out to the community for help.
Joyce Adejumo lost her son Mitchie in 2007, and now she may lose the gallery that bears his name.
"He's gone physically, but not spiritually," she said.
Mitchie loved art so much, Adejumo opened the gallery 24 years ago. Her son was paralyzed at age three in a drunk driving crash. He died from those injuries when he was 21-years-old.
"It's been hard, it's been hard,” Adejumo said. “Because he would always tell people that this was his business. I just worked for him."
Now, Adejumo is trying to keep his business alive.
"It's the economy it's bad for everybody, but I had exhausted all my savings trying to keep it open," she said.
Adejumo is hosting a fundraiser this weekend at Mitchie's Gallery with live music, refreshments and an art sale.
The Old Fashioned Rent Party is this Saturday, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mitchie's Gallery on 7801 North Lamar Boulevard. Click here for more information.
