Texas State regents donate $240K to Perry
Gov. Perry's campaign fund got a boost from the people who govern the Texas State University System.

According to the University Star, the Texas State University student newspaper, eight of the nine voting members of the Board of Regents donated a total of more than $245,000 to Perry. The regents are appointed by the governor to oversee the business of eight institutions including Texas State, Sam Houston State and Lamar universities.

The Board of Regents’ newest member, William F. Scott, was appointed by Gov. Perry in September 2011. According to the Texas Ethics Commission, Scott was the most generous donor with gifts totalling $103,587. On the low end, Rossanna Salazar of Austin gave Perry $1,557.

The total donated by Texas State system regents, $245,126, is considerably less than the $1.5 million contributed by University of Texas System regents and the $1.4 million donated by the regents from the Texas A&M University System.
