As the City of Austin prepares its next bond package, it wants to know what improvements are needed in neighborhoods across the city.

A group of citizens has been tasked with identifying the areas which need help, and if they stay within a $400 million budget, Austinites should expect to see their taxes remain steady.

"We're looking at how we can build the best connective tissue between the Comprehensive Plan, the vision it lays out and the priorities it lays out with what we do in the Capital Program."

Austin Capital Planning Officer Mike Trimble said that without improvements through bond packages, the city's infrastructure would slowly crumble.

"We're looking at how we can build the best connective tissue between the Comprehensive Plan, the vision it lays out and the priorities it lays out with what we do in the Capital Program," he said.

As the improvements are decided upon, they are prioritized by importance to the city’s infrastructure.

"Those things that need to be fixed in a quick turnaround manner are obviously going to be things that float to the top of the list,” Trimble said. “We take a lot of different things into account."

The city wants your take on the improvements leaders have come up with so far. It will be hosting a bond development open house on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at Palmer Events Center. It runs from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

The city also wants to hear from you through its community engagement website, SpeakUpAustin.org.
