Governor Rick Perry stopped in Bell County Wednesday to break ground on a 40,000 square-foot building expected will bring about 350 IT related jobs to Belton.
The new campus will be the newest IT services delivery center for the Canada based company CGI. The city beat out 30 different communities in five different states to serve as the new site.
The company president said the potential to tap into the skills of Fort Hood soldiers leaving the military was one of the reasons why they chose Belton.
Gov. Perry said making good job opportunities available for veterans is one of the best ways to give back.
"The military trains young men and women to be people of character, they mature them,” he said. “That is one of the things I salute you for. It's that investment that will enable many of these returning veterans to further their careers."
CGI received $1.8 million from the Texas Enterprise Fund last November. They'll spend seven million dollars to build the Belton facility.
