A Travis County grand jury chose not to indict three Austin police officers after their interrogation of murder suspect Mark Alan Norwood was called into question.

Their interview with Norwood, the man charged in the 1986 murder of Christine Morton, involved a controversial interview tactic where the investigators showed the suspect a false DNA report, claiming that it applied to him.

The grand jury determined there was not enough evidence to charge the three officers with any crime.

Mark Alan Norwood is also the prime suspect in the 1988 murder of Debra Baker in North Austin. The officers had the chance to interview Norwood after his arrest in November.
