Since the events began to unfold Wednesday, May 17th, the management team of Wood Ridge Apartments has aggressively worked to address the incident. Wood Ridge Apartments has continued to focus its immediate primary efforts on: the safety of our residents, relocation efforts, making temporary repairs and ultimately permanent repairs to address balcony issues.
Within hours of the initial phone call to Austin fire officials, Wood Ridge management assembled an Emergency Response Team comprised of structural engineers, construction specialists as well as relocation professionals. This Emergency Response Team has worked diligently with City of Austin officials to fully cooperate and develop an action plan. Since the City of Austin ordered the closure of some of the Wood Ridge Apartment buildings, the management team worked aggressively in an attempt to relocate affected residents, given constraints of existing available housing in the area. The management team immediately put out calls to other properties in the area and professional apartment locators in an effort to assist with the relocation of affected Wood Ridge residents.
Since the incident occurred, the engineering team has thoroughly worked on an expedited basis to develop construction plans. Those plans were submitted to the City of Austin and have recently been approved. Camp Construction has a crew assembled and materials prepared to begin executing the engineers’ plans Thursday morning.
Wood Ridge Apartments is anticipating the roll out of financial assistance to certain affected residents. Affected residents are encouraged to remain in close contact with Wood Ridge Apartments for further details. Any local apartment communities wishing to accept displaced residents are encouraged to contact the Wood Ridge management office at 512-447-9464.
Wood Ridge Apartments will continue to use their best efforts to address this unforeseen and unfortunate situation.
