Man dies after falling from cliff at Pace Bend Park

Update: The man killed after falling from a cliff at Pace Bend Park has been identified as 42-year-old George Wesley Perry from Pflugerville.

According to Travis County Emergency Services, Perry was attempting to scale down a 50 to 60 foot cliff around 2 p.m. Saturday when he fell. Crews from Park Service, Austin-Travis County EMS, STAR Flight and boats from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office and Pedernales Fire Department all responded.

STAR Flight lowered a flight nurse to the ground who administered life support procedures. Perry was pronounced dead shortly before 3 p.m.

Earlier: The Travis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man who fell from a cliff at Pace Bend Park.

According to Roger Wade with the TCSO, the 40-year-old was pronounced dead at 2:55 after falling while rock climbing.

The fall appears to be accidental.
