Both directions of Interstate-35 back open in San Marcos
Update -- Both directions of Interstate-35 are back open.
Earlier -- A small grass fire caused a power line to droop Tuesday afternoon near Interstate-35 and Aquarena Springs in San Marcos. An 18-wheeler snagged the line, causing it to fall on the Interstate.
Crews are working to repair the line, causing both northbound and southbound I-35, including frontage roads, to close for at least one hour.
Here are a few alternate routes for travelers while work is underway:
-Exit Aquarena Springs to Mill Street to bypass incident
-Exit Highway 80 to head north on Highway 21
-Drivers heading northbound can exit Yarrington to Post Road
We have a crew on the scene and will let you know when traffic in the area is flowing again.
