Five officers involved in deadly Cedar Park shooting
Cedar Park police have released new details about Thursday’s officer-involved shooting.

According to CPD, officers received a call about 1:30 in the afternoon from the mother of 59-year-old Charles Ohara. The woman said her son was causing a disturbance and she left the home out of fear before police arrived.

When officers arrived to the residence in the 400 block of Rainbow Bridge, they were confronted by Charles Ohara, who was holding a firearm, according to officials.

Five of the officers on site fired at the Ohara, who died on scene.

The officers involved were 12-year veteran Sgt. Bobby Vernengo, 14-year vet Officer James Quinn, 5-year vet Officer Coy Brown, 5-year vet Officer Kristy Britt and 2-year vet Officer Robert Harris.

They have all been put on administrative duties while the incident is investigated which is standard procedure.
