World Championship Football is making a home in Austin for the weekend.

Beginning Saturday, eight teams from around the globe will compete for bragging rights to be the best 19-and-under football squad in the world.

The number one seed U.S. team hopes to defend their 2009 title against countries like Austria, Panama, France and Japan.

"It's the best sport in the world, and it fascinates all the players around the world," Tatsuaki Shojima with Team Japan said.

Some French players say they're learning to carry the American spirit of playing to win, each and every time they hit the field.

"We play soccer and basketball just for fun, but not really to win or perform, so that's why I like American football,” Quentin Danes with Team France said. "It's so huge to be in football's country and to play for my country. It's really a great thing."

The International Federation of American Football has teams from 62 countries. The federation will host 12 games at Burger Stadium, running through next week.
