APD announced Tuesday it plans to launch a ‘No Refusal’ initiative for the Independence Day holiday.
During ‘No Refusal,’ any driver pulled over on suspicion of drunk driving must submit a breath test or get a court-ordered blood draw.
AAA will arrange for a tow truck to get you and your car safely back home from 6 p.m. – 12 a.m. July 4.
The first 10 miles are free just call 1 (800) 222-4357.
State law says anyone with a blood school concentration at or above .15 will be charged with a Class A misdemeanor, and could face up to one year and jail and $4,000 fine for first year offenders.
According to APD, about 26 percent of last year’s traffic fatalities were alcohol-related.
The July 4th "No Refusal" initiative will start 9 p.m. Wednesday and continues through 5 a.m. Thursday.
