Just in time for Independence Day, a wounded Georgetown veteran received a new place to call home.

Operation Finally Home teamed up with Jimmy Jacobs Custom Homes to build Spc. Michael Ryan and his wife CareyLynn a 2,900 square-foot house.

The home was custom built and mortgage-free as thank you to Ryan for his service.

His wife says they appreciate how many people helped get them to this point.

"To see that there are lists of vendors who have helped out with everything from the lighting, to the stained cement, to the garage doors, it's unbelievable the outpouring of love that we have received," CareyLynn Ryan said.

Ryan suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2008 while serving in Iraq, but doctors say he has achieved several recovery milestones.

He plans to attend the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
