Austin city officials are not happy about the lack of progress in repairing the Wood Ridge Apartments in Southeast Austin.

Representatives for the complex were blasted by city officials after presenting a progress report to the city's Building and Standards Commission Wednesday evening.

Commission board members expressed dissatisfaction after hearing that $600,000 is needed to repair the dilapidated apartment complex and the owner is looking to sell the property.

The board members asked the city’s legal team if they could subpoena the owner to testify in front of the commission.

In May, an elevated walkway collapsed at the Southeast Austin complex, prompting a close inspection by city code compliance workers. They found more than 700 code violations, prompting the mandatory evacuation of dozens of families from their homes.

The property owners have until August to get the complex up to code or face fines as high at $15,000 per week.
