A Sept. 17 trial date has been set for the former legislative aid accused of a deadly hit-and-run.

Twenty-five-year-old Gabrielle Nestande is charged with failure to stop and render aid in the death of Courtney Griffin.

Police say Nestande hit Griffin as she was walking down the street in Central Austin in May of last year.

Nestande did not appear at a pre-trial hearing Monday morning, but Griffin's family was there.

“It's very hard. You know it's just a constant reminder. We're ready for things to get resolved,” Courtney’s father, Bart Griffin, said. “I don't know how else to put it. We want to see justice done. It's important to us. We're going to be here through thick and thin but we're ready to get it resolved."

If convicted, Nestande faces two to 10 years behind bars and fines of up to $10,000.
