According to police, Wright was hit and killed as he attempted to cross the busy South Austin highway just before 6:30 Tuesday morning.

The accident prompted police to close both east and westbound lanes of Ben White near South Congress Avenue, causing major traffic delays in the area.

Police have determined the drivers involved were not at fault.

This was Austin’s 45th traffic death of the year. At this time last year, there were 34 traffic deaths.
