APD: Man assaults woman with knife in SE Austin

Austin police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who they say assaulted a woman in Southeast Austin in the late evening hours of July 28.

According to the officers, the suspect followed the victim in the area near East Stassney Lane and Pleasant Valley Drive. The suspect then knocked the victim to the ground, showed a knife and threatened to kill her.

The suspect was able to flee the scene when the victim screamed for help.

According to police, the suspect is described to have the following characteristics:

• Hispanic male
• Light complexion
• Late teens to early 20s
• Thin build
• 5’10” to 6’ in height
• Dark, thick hair
• Spanish speaker

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Detective Silva at (512) 974-5526 or Crime Stoppers at (512) 472-TIPS. Information leading to arrest or charges could be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
