APD makes arrest in pickup truck murder

Austin police have arrested a man for murder in the death of
42-year-old Alejandro Hernandez Jr. last month.
Officers say 35-year-old Thomas Trent Atkinson Jr. shot Hernandez July 9. Hernandez was found slumped over in the driver’s seat of a truck with a gunshot wound shortly before 6 a.m. in the 200 block of West Lola Lane in north Austin. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Atkinson was arrested Friday during a traffic stop and was taken into custody without incident. He’s been charged with murder, a first-degree felony. His bond is set at $75,000.
