Bobcats tickets go quick for historic game

With Texas State University's season opener about two weeks away, Bobcats fans lined up for blocks, hoping to get their hands on a limited number of free student tickets.
Texas State joined the Football Bowl Subdivision last month meaning for the first time, the Bobcats will play at the highest level of college football.
"We have this brand new stadium, so I think that the hype is way up and people are just excited to turn out,” Texas State student Drew Rino said.
School officials expect a record-setting number of fans cheering on a record-setting game in September. The team will christen the newly-renovated Bobcat Stadium by taking on the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
"I would love for us to come out as Bobcats and kick some butt, kick Tech's butt,” Rino said. “That would be great."
Win or lose, the game promises to be one for the books. It'll be the first time that as many as 31,000 fans will squeeze in, shoulder-to-shoulder, nearly doubling the previous record crowd of 16,000.
Director of Stadium Operations Joe Verschueren says three-quarters of the tickets are already taken, and the game will likely sell out.
"We've had people calling the office, trying to making sure they'll be able to get their tickets for the game for the last few weeks,” he said. “Kids stayed out overnight last night to be the first ones in line."
Only the first four thousand were guaranteed free tickets Friday.
At this moment, tickets for the September 8 game against Texas Tech are still available to the general public, but school officials say they're going fast.
