A local high-tech company is bringing NASA technology closer to home.

4DSP recently licensed NASA technology, specifically fiber optics to transfer data and is looking to bring it to the private sector.

The company was started back in 2004. They moved to Austin to be closer to The University of Texas School of Engineering and their students.

“What the company is going to do now is use that NASA technology to embed fiber optics in just about any product you can probably think about,” Austin Business Journal Editor Colin Pope said.

4DSP is targeting aerospace companies, construction companies and engineering companies. They hope bringing this fiber optic technology to companies will help them better monitor inanimate objects.
