As the University of Texas Longhorns prepare to hit the football field for their first regular season game, thousands of fans are hitting the pavement.
Tailgaters took over the parking lots by DKR Stadium Saturday, with many of the groups starting up well before sunrise.
"Everybody's busy, we all work. This is a chance for all of our friends to come in, have a good time and spend the day together,” Longhorn fan Jeff Hewitt said.
Hewitt and his crew set up their station Friday evening.
Necessary tailgating ingredients include barbecue, beverages and, of course, buddies.
"It's nice to have a favorite team, but it’s a whole lot nicer when there's a lot of people around you that share that same sentiment," Shane Sobon said.
U.T. will play the University of Wyoming Cowboys Saturday at 7 p.m.
