Occupiers call emergency meeting on APD infiltration

Occupy Austin is responding to Austin Police Department's admission of putting undercover officers in the group.
A few dozen protestors gathered at City Hall Monday. Group leaders posted a call on their Facebook Page for an emergency meeting to talk about APD's undercover mission last year where at least three officers dressed up as protestors in order to infiltrate the movement at its height.
One protester says she would have welcomed officers participating openly, but is upset at their ulterior motives.
"The fact that they came in such a divisive manner, in such a secretive manner screams their lack of accountability. It's the proof. That's the pudding. They don't want to be accountable. They don't want to be part of the solution to end some of the problems in our community," Occupier Carlisha said.
One of the undercover officers is now accused of helping protesters break the law by distributing illegal lock-boxes which occupiers took to a demonstration in Houston. APD has not commented on that accusation, but says the undercover mission was for public safety.
