A local nonprofit is helping people beyond Texas.
The group Hope for Senegal is part of the Helping Other People Everywhere (HOPE) effort. Yasmin Diallo Turk founded the organization after visiting the Republic of Senegal.
“One of the places I visited was where my husband had gone to high school. It really touched me personally because I know that my husband is one of the smartest people that I’ve ever met, and seeing all of those students there, there’s over 4,000 students, and all the potential that they had, I felt like that is one place in the world where a little bit of effort can make a big difference in lives of so many students,” Turk said.
