YNN Political Anchor Paul Brown is following the Texas delegation and has more on Representative Joaquin Castro’s surprise visit .

The Texas delegation gathered together Thursday morning on the final day of the Democratic National Convention.

One of the delegation speakers, State Representative Joaquin Castro, was a bit of a surprise, but a familiar face. He, along with his brother, got to sit with the First Lady Wednesday night at the convention.

Representative Castro said the last 36 hours have been both exciting and tiring.

“There was a lot of anxiousness about getting through Tuesday, and then I was very proud of my brother and how he gave that speech," he said. “Now it’s just a matter of being here and celebrating with the other folks and getting back to Texas."

Representative Castro is the Democratic nominee in the District 20 race for Congress, currently held by Democrat Charlie Gonzalez, who is not seeking reelection.

Castro, who is heavily favored to win the race, faces Republican David Rosa on the November ballot.

Castro said jobs and economic development are his top priorities.
