The Buda Grocery and Grill is 100 years old, and while the shelves may not look brand new, they are a reminder of the way things were.

"It was a functioning grocery store. I mean, it's always been the local grocery store. People really came here for the convenience of it," Anthony Uresti with Buda Grocery and Grill said. "The old 1913 vault--back in the day it was the E.J. Cleveland store as you can see up here E. J. Cleveland."

The vault and the old wood floors are reminders of the past as this historic community gathering place takes on a new role.

"Nowadays it's either you adapt or you go extinct. To adapt to today's world and how fast paced it is, we wanted to cater to the people. I just wanted to have a good time, sit back, relax,” Uresti said.

Relax and have a good time in a place that's preparing for the future in a building firmly rooted in the past.

"It's gone through a lot and it's always changing and the people, they don't change, they always come in here," Uresti said.

You can experience the Buda Grocery and Grill and the rest of Buda's historic downtown tonight during the monthly ‘First Thursday’ event hosted by the Buda Downtown Merchant's group.
