Austin man's death ruled a result of car crash days earlier
Austin police say a man found dead in his apartment earlier this year died from injuries he sustained in a traffic accident several days earlier.

According to police, 44-year-old David Buchanan crashed his Nissan X-terra into a tree along Lake Creek Parkway sometime before 5 a.m. on June 9. Police say they found no one was at the scene of the crash.

Four days later, emergency crews were called to a home along Grey Fawn Path, just south of where the crash occurred, for reports of a dead person, later identified as David Buchanan.

An autopsy performed by the Travis County Medical Examiner determined Buchanan’s death was a result of the crash.

This is Austin’s 52nd traffic fatality of 2012. At this time in 2011, there were 36 traffic fatalities.
