Gas leak shuts down 3 lanes of South Lamar Boulevard
Update: As of 7:30 p.m., all lanes on South Lamar Boulevard have been reopened.

Earlier: A gas leak in South Austin has prompted authorities to close a section South Lamar Boulevard for much of Saturday.

According to the Austin Fire Department, the leak had stopped before noon, but Texas Gas Service still needs to make necessary repairs to the line. Crews are expected to be out there for most of the day.

One northbound lane of South Lamar Boulevard will stay open.

No evacuations were ordered, but an AFD spokesperson said access to local businesses is limited.
