According to the Federal Aviation Administration, a single-engine plane crashed after taking off from a private airstrip about 15 miles north of Kingsland.

The pilot, the aircraft’s sole occupant, was killed.

The FAA did not release the name of the person on board, but did say that they would be conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
