Austin Independent School District is encouraging employees not miss a day of work.

AISD and the University of Texas are teaming up to offer a special incentive program where employees with perfect attendance, or campuses that meet their attendance goals, can earn free vouchers to University of Texas athletic events.

UT will provide 15,000 vouchers good for soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball games during the school year.

Superintendent Meria Carstarphen praises the partnership, saying students directly benefit from an enthusiastic, present staff.

"It's really important that all staff members, not just teachers, are excited about being in school every day. Bus drivers, for example, are the first adults in our system that see kids when they come into school,” AISD Superintendent Meria Carstarphen said.

Carstarphen says AISD's employee attendance rate hovers between 90 and 95 percent. Student attendance is higher, at 95 percent.
