Starting Monday, Austin Energy customers will pay more for their electricity.
The rate hike averages out to 7 percent. Austin Energy officials say the hike is because it had not raised its base rates in 18 years and its electric rate structure needed to be updated.
Depending on kilowatt usage, residential customers will see an increase anywhere from $2 to $29.
Last week, the utility announced a decrease in fuel charges.
You'll see that as the Power Supply Adjustment on your bill.
On average, residential customers will save nearly $2 every month.
