DPS looking for escaped sex offender
James Anthony Rubio, 55
The Texas Department of Public Safety is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the whereabouts James Anthony Rubio.
The 55-year-old cut a monitoring bracelet off his ankle and ran away from the Travis County Residential Center in Del Valle Sunday.
Officers say Rubio is a violent sexual predator with previous military experience. He is a native of the Waco area, but has family in San Antonio. He also may be headed to Mexico.
Rubio recently served time in prison for assaulting three women and one 14-year-old.
He is wanted for failure to comply with Sex Offender Registry.
