The University of Texas is among the top 25 elite universities in the world, according to the 2012-2013 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

The 40 acres joins the ranks of Cal-Tech, Princeton, Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge.

The university actually moved up the list from number 29 last year to 25 this year.

The list includes the world's top 400 universities that are evaluated based on categories like teaching, research and innovation.

In a statement, UT President Bill Powers said:

”When we consider that we are keeping company with universities that are hundreds of years old, and schools with private endowments and public funding that dwarf ours, we have that much more to be proud of. If we can make the world’s top 25 with the relatively low funding we have now, imagine what we could do with a robust and sustained commitment.”
