Part of a street in northwest Austin collapsed after a water main break early Monday morning.
It happened on York Boulevard between MoPac and Stone Lake.
Some water outages were reported in the neighborhood as the line was shut down. Officials still are not sure what caused the break or how long it will take to repair but are confident crews will be able to take care of the problem.
“It just depends on the break, water is very powerful. It can buckle concrete periodically, but this is something our street and bridge crews can repair,” Jill Mayfield with Austin Water Utility said
Since the road was short, it did not create much of a backup when it was shutdown. There were also other ways to access buildings in the area.
