Former U.S. House Majority leader Tom DeLay was convicted in 2010 for taking part in a scheme to influence state elections.

Wednesday, his lawyers will be back in court to try and get the case overturned.

DeLay's three-year prison sentence has been on hold while his case is on appeal. He was charged with funneling corporate donations into the 2002 state elections.

DeLay has always maintained his conviction was politically motivated.

The Travis County District Attorney's office says their case against DeLay was never about politics.
