APD arrests 2 suspected bank robbers

Austin police arrested two suspected back robbers this weekend.

On Friday, police were called to the Bank of America near the intersection of South Congress Avenue and Oltorf Street for reports of a robbery. They say their suspect entered the bank, brandished a weapon and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police arrested 54-year-old Roger Albi without incident, shortly after the robbery. He’s been charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, a first degree felony.

Albi is being held in Travis County Jail of $25,000 bond.

The next morning, around 9:15 a.m., police responded to a robbery at another Bank of America, this one on the 6400 block of Airport Boulevard, near Highland Mall.

Police say 25-year-old Damien Deshawn Conally entered the bank and demanded money after wielding a weapon. He fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He was arrested a short time later.

Like Albi, Conally has been also been charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, a first degree felony, but he also faces several other charges..

Conally is in the Travis County jail. His bonds total $143,000.
