Neighbors to F1 track make plans for Grand Prix weekend

Sergio Ruiz has been spending a lot of time lately cleaning up his property. His backyard is expecting more than 100,000 visitors this weekend for the U.S. Grand Prix, and he wants to be ready.
"You don't want something to look bad when other countries are coming to see your backyard," Ruiz said. "Just keep cleaning, keep the place nice, in case somebody gets interested and purchase it."
Ruiz says that most of his neighbors are planning to stay at home this weekend.
"Hey we're going to be barbecuing for three days, a lot of friends coming over," he said. "A lot of traffic probably, but we already know that there was going to be a lot of traffic anyway."
Elroy resident Mario Castillo may hit the road for the weekend, but the congestion is a small price to pay for the benefits he expects the track to bring.
"We were thinking of going out of town, getting a room somewhere because of all the congestion," he said."I think it's great for Austin and the area to have something this spectacular."
The track is quite a dramatic change for an area that has out of the way for so long.
"We used to have cedar trees and people would come and shoot birds and now look at that. It's crazy," Ruiz said.
Those that live closest to the track say want to see just how this weekend progresses.
They're hoping by next year's Grand Prix they'll be able to use their location to make some extra money.
