Four charged with murder in teen's brutal beating

By: YNN Staff

Four people have been arrested by Austin police in last week's violent beating death of 16-year-old Jorge Louis Medina, Jr.

Thirty-five-year-old Christina Reynero, her son 17-year-old Juan Jose Reynero and 18-year-old Arthur Estrada, III have all been charged with murder, a first-degree felony. A minor, whose identity was not released, has also been charged.

According to a police arrest affidavit, officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Uphill Lane Thursday evening for reports of a large fight. When they arrived witnesses told them people had beaten Medina with boards and pipes, kicked him and punched him.

Witnesses said a woman fitting Christina Reynero’s description hit Medina in the head with a board, and that her son, and Estrada, who claimed to be a member of the Dove Springs Posse 44 gang, hit Medina multiple times with boards and metal pipes.

Witnesses said Medina’s girlfriend was also at the scene and was attacked by some women. She struck Chrsitina Reynero with her vehicle before friends of Medina's were able to pull him away from his attackers and transport him to Dell Children’s Hospital where he later died.

Christina Reynero went to a separate hospital for injuries she suffered from being hit by the vehicle. It was there she was questioned by police and admitted to her involvement in the fight.

Bonds for the three named suspects are set at $100,000.
