To help those who are confined to their home, Meals on Wheels and More depends on volunteers.
The organization distributes more than 2,000 meals daily in Austin, but they're currently short-handed on volunteers and they need drivers to fill 39 open routes.
On a weekly basis they cover 1,250 routes but with the holidays fast approaching the organization is worried about cancellations.
"We start to get into a problem there because the more meals we have to deliver using paid staff, as opposed to volunteers, that's less money that we can spend on direct services to our clients," Thad Rosenfeld with Meals on Wheels and More said.
Volunteer drivers must be at least 18 years old, but there are a few other qualifications. Find out more at MealsOnWheelsAndMore.org.
