Emergency responders are behind-the-scenes to ensure sure people stay safe during Formula One weekend.

County, state and federal agencies are headquartered at the Emergency Operations Center. The staffing and response plans are similar to what you'd see for a natural disaster.

"In this particular event, it's not an emergency, it's a planned event. We've been planning it for almost two years,” Roger Wade with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said. “We're just calling it an Operations Center right now, we're bringing everybody together so that we can make sure we're monitoring everything that's going on and, if something happens that we need to respond to we can get to it quickly, we've got the resources."

The Operations Center became active Friday morning. It will stay that way until Monday at 10 p.m.
