Crews rescue 1 adult, 4 children from East Austin apartment fire
Emergency crews battled a fire at the Lafayette Landing apartments in East Austin Friday night.
Flames reached out of the windows of two apartments, trapping one adult and four children on the second floor.
Fire crews worked quickly, and the residents were rescued successfully.
"They went out in rescue mode originally because it had people, and while they were rescuing people, they were fighting the fire to keep it away from the people they were rescuing," AFD Lt. Eddie Martinez said.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
The blaze caused $125,000 in structural damage and $25,000 in damage to contents.
