The Lake Travis football team has won five state championships in a row, and now they have company. The St Andrew's boys cross country team just wrapped up its fifth straight championship,

While many might consider running a chore, St. Andrew’s cross country coach Gilbert Tuhabonye's motto is “run with joy.” During practices, it’s not uncommon to hear African chants, a nod to the coach’s home in Burundi.

“The St Andrew’s students are listening. Cross country has become the ‘it’ sport,” Tuhabonye said. “The team now has more than 60 runners.“

The Crusaders are the first team to ever win five Southwest Preparatory Conference cross country championships total, let alone five in a row.

Get a closer look at Coach Tuhabonye and his team in action in this “Athlete of the Week” in the video above.
