The man and woman killed in an apparent murder-suicide in Del Valle have been identified by Austin police.

Officers say they responded to a check welfare call at 13005 Perconte Drive at 6:23 p.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, several witnesses in the neighborhood told officers there were two dead individuals inside a home.

Once inside the residence, police discovered the body of 29-year-old Adriana Rugina, who died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Also inside was 38-year-old Terrelle Owens, who had suffered self-inflicted gunshot wounds. He was transferred to University Medical Center Brackenridge where he later died.

Rugina’s seven-year-old daughter was present when the attack took place. She was uninjured and is currently being cared for by an aunt.

APD officials say that until recently, Owens and Rugina were involved in a dating relationship. Before Owens died, police said he was a suspect in Rugina's death.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call APD’s Homicide Tip Line at (512) 477-3588 or CrimeStoppers at (512) 472-TIPS.
