Frank on Third and Colorado streets was cleared fresh out of hot dogs the Austin Fan Fest during Formula One weekend.

Manager Danny Bressler says the restaurant doubled their sales record Saturday.

"It was a really great weekend, we worked hard and we had a good time, and came out strong on the other side so," he said.

It was a good weekend they desperately needed. From March until just last week, half of Colorado Street was blocked off so the city could begin work on the Colorado Street Reconstruction Project. The work was a nightmare for drivers pedestrians and local businesses, causing Frank's neighbor Maria Maria to close down.

F1 marked a turning point for the businesses on this block, but Austin Business Journal Editor Colin Pope says the event will have a long-term impact. It was also perhaps the biggest spenders to ever visit the Capital City.

We had a lot of millionaires and billionaires come to Austin for the first time, and so the hope is that they're going to invest money whether it be to buy land here or create jobs here, or to create partnerships with Austin companies,” Pope said. "It is safe to say the average F1 consumer spends far, far more than your typical ACL-er or South by Southwest attendee."

The city will continue work on Colorado from Fifth to Seventh streets. Crews will move to the west side of the street early next year.

The Colorado Street Reconstruction Project is expected to be complete by June 2013.
