Man steals tow truck, attempts to run over officers

Update-- Police have identified the suspect as 35-year-old Jeramie Feyock.

He has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a state jail felony, and evading arrest with a motor vehicle, a third degree felony.

Earlier-- A man is in custody after Travis County Sheriff deputies say he attempted to carjack someone and stole a tow truck in North Austin Wednesday morning.

It happened around 6 a.m. on Howard Lane near Wells Branch Parkway. Officials say the suspect was looking through the area for cars and tried to carjack one vehicle before he winded up stealing a tow truck.

Deputies attempted to stop him on Research Boulevard, but he tried to run officers over with the truck before fleeing on foot.

After searching the area, deputies took him into custody just before 8 a.m.

No one was injured in the incident.
