Thanksgiving is upon us, and people are still stocking up on supplies for their feast. Thankfully, local grocery stores are prepared for the flood of last-minute shoppers.

At the HEB in Central Austin’s Hancock Center, people buzzed about Wednesday evening in search of turkey, potatoes, stuffing and other Thanksgiving staples.

An HEB spokesperson said the chain begin ordering Thanksgiving products as early as January to ensure that there will be enough turkeys and produces for customers.

Deborah White just moved to Central Texas from Rhode Island. She not only loaded up on groceries, but also stocked up on kitchen items needed to cook the meal.

“It’s less stressful because I have less family here than I have up north, so it’s just going to be the three families instead of having 25 people at dinner,” she said.
