Ice skating is a holiday tradition that even Texans can celebrate.

There are several outdoor ice rinks in the Austin area, including one at the Barton Creek Resort and Spa in West Austin.

The rink is artificially built, and the ground is refrigerated. The 4,100-square-foot rink is part of the resort's annual Holiday Lights and Ice Event.

"There's carnival games, there's s’mores roasting,” Julia McQueen with Barton Creek Resort & Spa said. “We've got a holiday gift shop that the adults can do some holiday shopping while the kids are out on the ice. It's just a fun time for everyone and it benefits a good cause."

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Make A Wish Foundation. Click here for more information.
