Cooler weather brings out campers

With cooler temperatures comes more campers. The nicer weather this time of year tends to draw people to state parks.

Rangers at McKinney Falls State Park say there is just something about the crisp air and the changing color of leaves that makes fall a perfect time to spend the night outdoors.

Besides doing a little campfire cooking and sharing stories, there are plenty more activities for the whole family to get in on.

"Here we have two waterfalls. Other parks have other attractions as well, miles of hiking and biking trails,” park ranger Amber Conrad said. “Fishing is always free in state parks, you don't need a license, and most state parks will actually give you a loner fishing."

Texas Parks and Wildlife offers their Texas Outdoor Family workshops to show you how it's done. Click here for more information.
